The Chirality of the High Line

The East and South Side of the High Line
The project inspects how the High Line Park shapes people's perception of the urban sound, space, and movement. Spanning nearly 20 blocks, the park physically and psychologically divides Manhattan's west side through its elevated path.
Through visualizing and layering this data, the project transforms sensory observations into a comparative spatial narrative—revealing how sound and sight together influence the way we experience and understand urban environments.

Urban Scenarios Unfolded
By collecting sound recordings, conducting surveys, and creating visual collages from both sides of the park, the study explores the acoustic and spatial contrast between the natural openness facing the Hudson River and the dense, artificial texture of the city streets.
